Greatest American Hero

"Believe it or not, I'm walking on air. I never thought I could feel so free-hee-hee..."

Recognize this theme song? Did you recognize the lyrics, but not realize that there was a television show associated with it? Now's your chance to reminisce or learn something new.

Sci-Fi Weekly reports that season one of The Greatest American Hero has been released on DVD. This show was a favorite in my house in the early 80's, and not just for me. My parents (I was in high school when the show first came on) never missed an episode - and trust me, they weren't sci-fi geeks.

Basically, William Katt stars as a high school teacher who, along with Robert Culp as an FBI Agent, is given a superhero suit by aliens. Unfortunately, they lose the instruction manual, and hijinks ensue. Lots of wobbly flying, intermittent power response, etc. But fear not - the bad guys always lose, and the teacher manages to hang on to the girl, played by Connie Sellecca. Yep, Robert Culp and Connie Sellecca, plus created by Stephen J. Cannell - this thing was a hallmark of 80s television!

It's fun, it's goofy, it's low tech. Give it a whirl!
