Pomposity Personified
The Boor was back in his corner of the Student Lounge last evening. He hadn't been there at the same time as me for a couple of weeks. It was nice. Oh well.
The first topic on which I heard him expounding yesterday was the difference between proselytizing and pontificating. He explained (loudly and at great length) that proselytizing is when you truly and strongly believe in something, and you present your arguments in the sincere hope that you will win the listener over to your way of thinking, while pontificating is when you're just standing there being a pompous ass.
